Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Cavaillon
From its Romanesque Chapel (12th century) to its historical narrow streets, the old city of Cavaillon is truly unique.
Day 2: Cavaillon - Cadenet (45 km / 30 miles)
This stage is dominated by the differing landscapes guiding you to the Durance valley, with a backdrop of the beautiful mountains of Aix and Alpilles. You’ll cycle on to Lauris and its 12th century château, and finally Cadenet and the ruins of its troglodyte chateau.
Day 3: Cadenet - Bastide de Jourdan (35 km / 22 miles)
A beautiful day spent riding through a large area of Luberon which is scenically sprinkled with tiny authentic villages. Don’t forget to visit the rural settlements of Lourmarin, Vaugines, and Cucuron, before heading to the small village of Vitrolles en Lubéron.
Day 4: Bastide de Jourdan - Manosque (30 km / 19 miles)
You’ll ride through the AOC vineyards of Pierrevert and the museum of wine. You then cycle to Manosque at the foothills of the Alpes de Haute Provence, a place at the heart of nature, at ease with its exceptional naturalistic architectural appearance, formed over millions of years.
Day 5: Manosque - Forcalquier (30 km / 19 miles)
This stage falls between the two important areas of the Haute Provence region, demonstrating their very different personalities, guiding you towards the eastern part of this area - Luberon Oriental, and the Durance valley, known for its historical migrations. You’ll finish this stage in the colourful and perfumed land of Forcalquier.
Day 6: Forcalquier - St Michel de l'Observatoire (20 km / 12 miles)
Enjoy your hotel and its swimming pool, before riding in direction of the Largue Valley towards the beautiful villages of St Maime and Dauphin. Then on to St Michel de l'Observatoire.
Day 7: St Michel de l'Observatoire - Apt (50 km / 31 miles)
After Aubenas les Alpes, where fragrance of distilled lavender is diffused in July and August, start a geographic and cultural transitional ride, discovering a real contrast in agriculture. With lavender in the mountains and melons in the valley, this region is truly stunning. You will finally arrive in the small Luberon region, with its perched rural villages.
Day 8: Apt - Cavaillon (46 km / 28 miles)
This stage consists of a necklace of villages - Lacoste, Menerbes, Oppède le Vieux and more, travelling through the small Luberon. This last part, as you cycle through these villages, time seems to have stopped, and the spellbinding atmosphere will remain with you as the symbol of Luberon.
