Yorkshire is renowned for its wild scenery, tough riding but welcoming hospitality and the real sense of a cycling community. It has grown in reputation over the last 10 years to be known as one of the best areas of not only the UK but Europe to visit and ride a bike.
Yorkshire’s cycling revolution has a lot to do with the iconic events that it has hosted recently. It was catapulted into the spotlight when it hosted the Grand Départ for the Tour de France in 2014 and the UCI World Road Race Championships 2019. The annual Etape du Dales and Tour of Yorkshire are two of the most eagerly anticipated events on the UK cycling calendar.
The result is Yorkshire has become a must visit destination for road cyclists, with everything from dedicated cycle cafes to yellow spray-painted bikes dotting the landscape in support of all the riders toughing it out on the climbs and routes of the Dales.
We have been visiting and riding in the Yorkshire Dales for many years and have put together these 2 days of riding to showcase some of the best cycling in the area. We have also chosen Harrogate as the base for this trip, as it provides excellent facilities for conferences, restaurants for dining out with colleagues and has a direct train link with London, along with being easily reached on the A1(M).
